Um, awkward

Britney fansite Breatheheavy reported that Britney refused a hug to one of her fans (who paid $1000 for a meet and greet) at a show in Vancouver.

Forgetting the money, this is still sad and a bit disappointing.

The sad thing is if you google pics of Rhianna's meet and greets, she actually looks like she is putting in effort and actually likes her fans. Poor form Britney.

I love her, but ...

Has Britney been replaced by a man??
She's not looking (or sounding) good.

Jonas vs. Johan

Ok, Sarah, what do you think of this? It is a teaser of Britney's second single. It is sounding really good, much better than Hold It Against Me. I'm counting on this being solid. I was disappointed by the HIAM video - it's a mess, nowhere as good as her previous videos. And Britney is all about the video. (Don't get me started on the product placement for dating website Plenty of Fish. WTF? I thought it was bad when I saw it in a Kesha video. When did this sh-t become common place?) I blame Jonas Akerland who is destroying the world one video at a time. Akelrand directed HIAM. He is a Swedish music video director not to be confused with Johan Renck, another Swedish music video director, but one who makes awesome videos. (The two started a production company together in Sweden) Reck has directed some of my all time favourite videos including Tripping, Love at First Sight and Nothing Really Matters. Akerland is famous for directing Ray of Light for Madonna, but what people forget is he is also responsible for Jump, American Life and Celebration. He directed Lady Gaga's Paparazzi and Telephone and I just discovered he is to blame for the latest Rhianna/David Guetta mess. Love the song, hate the video. I mean, Rhianna looks amazing but she just sits on her ass for the entire song. It's criminal. Shame. Remember the days when you would have amazing videos directed by Herb Ritts or Jean-Baptiste Mondino. Now were lucky if we get a video by David LaChappelle Melina. I'm glad you are loving Miike Snow as much as I do. They were awesome at Good Vibrations.

Sarah: SO interesting! I love your breadth of knowledge about directors and film clips. You are a walking cultural reference guide! I agree with you about the death of good music videos = The Foo Fighters' new clip is shot in Dave Grohls garage on a hand held. That's just lazy. I used to wake up early to watch Film Clips and now I don't even make it through a whole song on You Tube (Rhianna and David Guetta - wtf? Snoreville for sure. and why is David Guetta working out? I can't figure out the link).

Don't even get me started on product placement... grrr....

All is right with the world

Check out this remix – loving this track now!

Sarah: Ok, you've got me with this one! I am officially converted - what an excellent remix! Can't wait to download - it's going straight into my "workout mix!".
Peter: I never expected that!! It's a pretty sick remix isn't it.

It's Britney Bitch

Ok, so I don't LOVE the song ... (it's not Gimme More), but I do agree with what Lainey said about Brit today:

No matter how badly she f-cks up, and how much fun we have over her f-ck ups, I have always contended that Britney is what none of her peers, and most of the current crop of child factory twats, could be. If there ever was a star that had IT, IT is Britney. And IT means that you stick around, that you take your fans with you, that they start at 14 and continue to 24 and 34 and beyond. Avril, who sold SO many records, couldn’t do it. Christina has not proved she can do it. And it is certainly not a slamdunk that Justin Bieber will be able to do it.

But Britney, she continues to do it.

The new single Hold It Against Me is a smash, breaking records for downloads and radio play. Let me repeat: breaking records for downloads and radio play. I LOVE THIS SONG. I can run to this song. I can roll down the windows in the car and bop to the song. I can have a dance party in the living room to this song. It’s a strong, strong song yes. But it has the added value of being a strong song BY BRITNEY SPEARS. Britney is always a factor.

And while others have to cart out their asses on carpets and shows and up in your face, tricked out and tucked in packaging, to move their products, all Britney
had to do was tease it on Twitter… and it exploded on iTunes.

Hopefully we'll see something amazing at the Grammy's.

Peter: NERD

Awesome song Sarah.
Have you seen the album artwork by Terry Richardson? I just saw last week and thought it was pretty cool.
Here is some classic NERD to get us ready for Thursday night:
